Hannah danced on the day you were born...

Congratulations to Marie's brother and sister-in-law, Rich and Kelly, as they welcome a daughter into the world. Annabelle Madison Beaubien arrived this morning. We can't wait to meet you Bella!

St. Nicholas Day in Review

St. Nicholas came to visit on Saturday. Hannah got finger puppets, oranges and fruit snacks in her stocking. She enjoyed each treat, and with the beautiful innocence of a one and a half year old, she had to be prompted to keep looking in the stocking to see what was left. Another quirky thing is that she insists on trying to eat the oranges like apples. The bitter zest can't hurt her, right? (she never actually chews it, just bites)
To end the day we ate "Good Works Cake." Yum yum. Then we read a story about St. Nicholas' life.
St. Nicholas, miracle worker, pray for us.

Let it snow

Despite Ed's protests, winter is in fact here. Sorry, Ed, it's not July yet. Hannah is all decked out for winter. Okay, you got me. We already lost a mitten.

Cake addict

Here's video proof for our nephew Bastien's recently acquired cake addiction. I blame the birthday extravaganza of labor day weekend.

Halloween

Hannah and Marie passed out candy to droves of neighborhood kids. Hannah was content to sit on my lap while playing in the candy bowl and enticing me to sing "row, row, row your boat" by singing the first couple words and rocking back and forth.

Hannah also went trick or treating for the first time! She really enjoyed carrying her basket and clutching candy in her fist. A neighbor even heard her attempt to say "trick or treat!"

The Many Colors of Hannah

"Say Bubye"

It's important that Hannah and I go the back door and wave as Ed pulls out of the driveway. I was attempting to get Hannah dressed instead and she ran off and started down the stairs. Yep, I said DOWN the stairs, by herself. We suspected that she could go down the stairs, but we'd never seen it before this day.

Two Years and Counting

We only regard those unions as real examples of love and real marriages in which a fixed and unalterable decision has been taken. If men or women contemplate an escape, they do not collect all their powers for the task. In none of the serious and important tasks of life do we arrange such a "getaway." We cannot love and be limited.

I wish I'd had my camera...

Hannah is increasingly charming as she grows! In the past week there were two things I would have liked to have on video:

1. Hannah eating rice mixed with spaghetti sauce. It was in a small bowl and since she's not that handy with a spoon, and mom feeding her is out of the question, she decided the best way to eat it was to attempt to drink it from the bowl!

2. Hannah discovering her first pair of clacky dress shoes. These were light blue patton hand me downs that could have passed for tap shoes on her little toddler feet. Delightful. Almost as sweet as her persistent request for me to put them "on!"

12 month pictures

Since I can't seem to locate our battery charger and therefore have not taken any new pictures in the past week or so, I'm going to borrow someone else's photos of Hannah. Click here to see the rest of the photo shoot. (photography by Jim Beaubien)

Can she chew gum at the same time?

Of course not because that would be a choking hazard.... but she can chew and walk at the same time. That's talent.

we've been busy

Here's just a few things we've been doing for the past month:

WE HAVE INTERNET!

Announcing the arrival of four green lights on our AT&T modem. And can I just say we are a little internet dependent?

Here's OUR new kitchen

Perhaps I can stop holding my breath, because everything with buying this house is going well so far. I just can't believe that in less than one month we will be home owners! More pictures to come.
I think the house is still listed with Howard Hanna so if you haven't seen the virtual tour already (like the whole Rutti family has), let me know and I'll help you find it on their website.

Spring has Sprung!

We took Hannah to the Metroparks the other day. The sun was shinning, the weather was warm, and the Carrot was in a good mood. That could only mean one thing: photo op!

Hannah wishes you all a Happy Easter!

We've got ourselves a bouncing baby girl

Hannah is getting ready to crawl. I imagine (and hope) that it will take SEVERAL more weeks of getting up on hands and knees and rocking before she actually crawls. She is now able to push herself backwards, unintentionally landing herself in a corner generally. She can pretty much spin in every direction as well to get to various toys or non-toys-that-she-thinks-should-be toys.
Included in the new photo album
is a picture of her after she lunged for her toy box and picked out exactly what she wanted. A vibrating teething toy. Nice choice Hannah.

The stats

Here are the stats for Hannah's six month check up:

Weight: 16 lbs 6.5 oz.
Height: 27 inches
Head size: 2 inches bigger than two months ago

So far she's hitting all her milestones and growing healthy with only one snag: super itchy skin!

Hannah update: 6 months

Hannah is officially 6 months old today. As pictured above, she can sit on her own for several seconds before toppling over in pursuit of something interesting she can't reach sitting up. (Therefore the nest of soft things surrounding her) She makes a variety of noises though not too many sounds that include consonants. She now rolls BOTH back to front and front to back like a pro. She can do "mini push-ups" and get her stomach off the ground, and she can occasionally push her back end up like an inch worm. However, she cannot do both at the same time, and she does not know how to get on her knees yet. As noted below, she has two precious teeth that are getting sharper by the day.
We are enjoying watching her grow and change. She is a constant source of joy with her laid-back sunny personality. Older ladies at church or the store soak up her ever ready smile and gurgles of pleasure. We also enjoy watching her interact with her cousins and children of friends.
